There is a gilded salon with tall windows, a black studio backdrop lit by a single lamp, a bank of mirror bulbs backstage, and the stone alleys of an old city at dusk. Costume runs from lace and ruffled cuffs to whiteface and a tulle collar to velvet and plate armour.
